The Hand Cannon is essentially a small handheld rocket launcher with a multi-stage attack. The weapon fires a timed squash-head projectile that will attach itself to targets and then detonate after a short period. This form of attack is highly effective against armored infantry, with the initial attack destroying the body armor, and the detonation dispatching the foe.

The Hand Cannon inflicts less damage than the Rocket Launcher, but it is more accurate, has a faster reload time and has better 'armor breaking' capabilities, meaning it is better for destroying a VSs armored exterior. The shells also have a much higher velocity, making moving targets easier to hit. Upon impact, the shell will adhere to its target. Human targets will be sent flying, and Medium-sized Akrid will stagger when hit. Shortly after impact, the shell will explode.
